How do you handle a high-value or insured piece?
It is photographed and recorded on arrival, kept at the workshop rather than moved between sites, and returned by fully insured tracked courier or arranged collection. Tell us the insured value when you enquire so cover is set correctly in both directions.
Is old plating stripped off, or do you plate over it?
It depends what is underneath. Sound plating is cleaned, prepared and plated over; patchy or lifting plating is stripped back first, because anything loose underneath will take the new layer with it. That call is made at assessment and it affects the quote, so you hear it before work starts.
Can you produce an aged or antique gold tone rather than a bright one?
Yes. We can vary both the gold tone and the surface texture between polished, satin and brushed to sit alongside existing metalwork. Send a photograph in natural light, or send one original piece to match against.
Will gold plating damage an antique piece from my Godalming home?
