Can a plated finish sit alongside gilded or gold-leaf detail?
Often, yes, and Winchester sends us a fair amount of work where that is the question. Gilding is warmer and less reflective than a bright modern plate, so we usually recommend an antique tone and a satin texture beside it. Send photographs in daylight, or one piece to match against.
Can you plate mirrors, picture frames and larger decorative pieces?
Yes. Frames, mirror surrounds, candelabra and sculpture are collected and returned by arrangement rather than posted. Send dimensions and an idea of the weight when you enquire so collection is arranged for the right vehicle.
Can you work on church, ceremonial or institutional pieces from Winchester?
Yes. These are assessed individually, handled with the same insured collection and return as everything else, and matched to existing pieces in the set where there is one. Tell us what the item is used for, since that affects the finish we recommend.
